The Project

Ready for Kindergarten, Ready for Life is a project to support North Lawndale parents as they prepare their children for Kindergarten. Our goal is that each and every child in our community is ready to succeed in school and far, far beyond. To do this, we want to ensure that parents are embraced and supported as the most important influences in their children’s early learning. For decades, parents, caregivers, and community members have been tireless advocates for the children of North Lawndale. We hope to pair this care and energy with a fresh infusion of resources to give our youngest ones what they deserve: the best early learning there is.

Dedicated to North Lawndale

North Lawndale is one of three communities in Illinois (along with Aurora and Rockford) to partner with Illinois Action for Children in implementing these parenting and early learning supports. The Community Parenting Support Saturation Program is generously funded by our philanthropic partners: CME
Group, Crown Family Philanthropies, J.B. and M.K. Pritzker Family Foundation, Illinois Children’s Healthcare Foundation, Irving Harris Foundation, Robert R. McCormick Foundation, and Steans Family Foundation.

The Team

The Ready for Kindergarten, Ready for Life team is a group of dedicated North Lawndale early learning professionals dedicated to the very best outcomes for children. This project could not have come to fruition without the collaboration of these incredible community partners coming together in a new way for our kids. The project is centralized in the Carole Robertson Center for Learning in partnership with Holy Family Ministries, Open Books and North Lawndale Reads, Sinai Community Institute, and the North Lawndale Early Learning Collaboration.
